Momilani INternational Exchange (M.I.X.) Program

Hyuga City students visit Pearl City

Students from Hyuga City, Japan visit Momilani

     A total of eight Momilani students were selected to participate in this program.  On August 16, 2017, eight Japanese exchange students and their chaperones came to Momilani Elementary School from Hyuga City. They were paired up with six, 5th grade students,  and two 6th grade students at Momilani.

These eight students from Japan stayed at the homes of the Momilani students for 5 days. On October 7, 2017, the selected Junior Ambassadors went to Japan to homestay at their partners' homes and visit the schools in Hyuga City.

On October 7, 2017 the Junior Ambassadors from Momilani  visited Japan.  The eight selected ambassadors went to Japan to homestay at their partners' homes and visit the schools in Hyuga City. Each of the students stayed with their host families for a week and were able to experience the lifestyle as a student in Japan.

 Several of the cultural activities that the students participated in were, tofu making, soba making, and performing Japanese Calligraphy.  All of these activities help the Junior Ambassadors form strong friendships that will last a long time.
