Basketball Team
Team Details
Every year Momilani Elementary School 5th and 6th grade students come out to play for the school's basketball team. Students that have played basketball before and students that have never played in their life are welcomed to come out and play. The only requirement is for the students to always try their best and to keep up with all academic responsibilities throughout the basketball season.
Dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork are the constant focus at every practice. The skills and concepts learned at practice are all done to help students compete against other teams at the Annual Pearl City Complex Intramural Basketball Tournament.
Pearl City High School Basketball Team Visit to Momilani
During the 2018-2019 Momilani basketball season, as the team setup for practice, there was a buzz and excitement since they were expecting special visitors from the high school.
As they began weaving drills, the Pearl City High School boys and girls basketball team members came into view over the tall grass of the field. Not even the rain could dampen the spirits on the court, as Coach Kyle Martin and his players came to work out with the students.
The students quickly broke up into four groups and began working on drills together such as dribbling, free throws, and layups. The high school students led the drills and gave instructions and support to the students. After a short downpour, it was back onto the court for some scrimmage and position practice.
The students and coaches of Momilani want to extend a heartfelt mahalo to those that participated and look forward to connecting our schools again!
